Desert Sprint

Desert Sprint by Jesús Olivas Quintana is a celebration of movement, pattern, and balance. A black jackrabbit darts across the surface, frozen mid-leap in a swirl of richly textured, engraved geometry. Earthy reds, deep blacks, and soft creams twist around the form, forming bold zigzags, spirals, and hatching that recall both indigenous patterns and the rhythm of nature.
The composition pulls the eye across every inch of the vessel — no space is left untouched, yet it remains clean and harmonious. The sgraffito technique adds depth to the matte surface, while the palette ties it back to the desert soil and sky. This piece feels alive — kinetic in spirit and grounded in tradition.
