Mayapan Sunplate

Minimalist and elemental, Mayapan Sunplate by Ayres Studio channels pre-Columbian design through a contemporary lens. Carved from solid volcanic stone, this circular plate features a radiant sunburst pattern that extends from the center outward in perfectly symmetrical ridges. The natural texture of the lava rock gives it a porous, almost lunar surface—raw and refined at once.
Inspired by the ancient Mayan city of Mayapán, the plate’s radial form evokes both ceremonial calendars and the sun disks of ancient Mesoamerican temples. While fully functional, it stands alone as a sculptural object—suitable for display on walls, tabletops, or as a centerpiece in modern interiors.
