Hilario Quezada

Serenata en el Panteón

$250.00

Brimming with playful energy, Serenata en el Panteón (“Serenade in the Cemetery”) is a lively tribute to the cultural blending of life and death in Mexican tradition. Crafted by Hilario Quezada, this spherical vase features a natural clay background with bold black engravings depicting skeletons dancing, playing music, and paying homage among graves and swaying trees.
The central figure strums a guitar beside a tomb inscribed "Humberto Ponce," while a dancer and several skeletal companions fill the scene with movement and folklore. Birds fly across the upper rim, adding to the whimsical yet reverent tone. The entire design is executed in the sgraffito technique, skillfully etched into the burnished surface.
