“Swirl Vase” – Ceramic

Efren Quezada’s matte black Swirl Vase stands out for its sculptural shape and precise painted detail. The vessel curves into an open loop, with a balanced, continuous form that feels both modern and rooted in Mata Ortiz tradition. A band of geometric motifs — painted in crisp white — wraps the upper edge, featuring clean lines, dot patterns, and stepped elements inspired by regional iconography. The surface is finely sanded and unglazed, giving the clay a soft, even finish. Edges are sharp, with no distortion or warping across the form. Despite its open structure, the base is sturdy and centered, holding the shape upright without tilt.
